The Saginaw Arts and Enrichment Commission will open its Art @ the Andersen 2025 Fall Show with an exhibition featuring works by members of the Saginaw Area Watermedia Artists (SAWA). The show will be on display from October 7 through October 16 at the Andersen Enrichment Center in Saginaw,120 Ezra Rust Drive. The public is invited to meet the artists at a reception on Tuesday, October 7 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Exhibition hours are 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Exhibition and reception are FREE to the public.
This year’s fall show at the Andersen, A Mixed Medley, is a chance for SAWA members to show a wider range of artistic endeavors. Exclusively for this show only, members will be able to enter pieces created in watermedia plus any other 2D medium. Many of the SAWA members are accomplished artists creating in media such as colored pencil, graphite, oils, pastel, etc.
20-25 members will be displaying approximately 65 works, highlighting a variety of styles, media and techniques.
The Saginaw Area Watermedia Artists is a non-profit organization formed in 1997 and comprised of mid-Michigan area artists, which works to promote the fine art of painting in mediums of watercolor and acrylics.
To support art education in the schools, each year SAWA gives a community award to an area school. The award is used for the purchase of much needed art supplies. SAWA has currently 53 members from five counties, from career artists to beginning hobbyists. SAWA provides all their members with opportunities to learn from other artists through workshops and demonstrations as well as opportunities to exhibit their work in area shows.
“I believe this may be our twentieth year exhibiting here at the Andersen Enrichment Center. In addition, we have an annual show at Saginaw Township as part of the Art in Public Places program, and in February we look forward to showing at Studio 23 in Bay City,” according to Cynthia Chilcote.
Art @ the Andersen is made possible with the support of the Maxwell K. Pribil Memorial Trust, Jury Foundation, Harvey Randall Wickes Foundation, and the Michigan Arts & Culture Council.
This project has been established by the Saginaw Arts and Enrichment Commission to give artists in the Great Lakes Bay Region an opportunity to exhibit and sell their work.
