The Michigan Wolverines came flying into the ACC/Big Ten challenge with a number 3 ranking in College Basketball.  This years edition of the ACC/Big Ten challenge would have several ranked teams facing each other in the 14th year of this unique match-up.  Two of College Basketball's premier conferences provide for some lively competition early in the season and gives a test to the coaches involved.

Wolverines Trey Burke, Tim Hardaway Jr., Glenn Robinson III and Jordan Morgan gives Michigan several key components to make a long run come NCAA tournament time.  With a strong returning core and several key freshman expected to play big roles this season the sold out crowd at the newly named Crisler Center looked forward to a big game.  Playing on ESPN's opening night of the Challenge gave both teams all the more incentive to play well.

Michigan coming into the game with its highest ranking in years have the fans excited in Ann Arbor this year.   The 5-0 Wolverines totally controlled the game from start to finish building up a 15 point lead in the second half.   The Wolverines lead 43-36 at the half and was receiving balanced scoring from it's starting five.    Freshman Nic Stauskas led the team with 20 points followed by Trey Burke who had a double/double 18 pts and 11 assists.    Tim Hardaway Jr. chipped in with16 points and Glenn Robinson III had 11 points and yes both of their fathers played in the NBA.

The N.C. State Wolfpack I thought would provide better competition on the evening but never did.  The Wolfpack with get to within 5 points late in the game when it was already decided .  Michigan plays a couple of name schools during the rest of their non-conference schedule.   I could easily see them being still undefeated by the start of the Big Ten season on January 3, 2013.   Big things are being thought of at Crisler Arena this year.   It could be magicial this season.   Oh I think that term belongs at that other school here in Michigan (magicial) it should be another bang up Conference Season again in the Big Ten.
