2023 Saginaw County Hall of Fame Inductees

The Saginaw County Hall of Fame has inducted over 150 individuals that have done much to impact our community over he expanse of its 60 year history.  Nominations are accepted from the community throughout the year using a nomination form on the organization’s website at saginawcountyhalloffame.org, which also contains biographies from prior inductees.

This year’s 2023 Inductees consist of the following:

Sanford Keeler (1837-1924) This Railroad Engineer & Superintendent played a significant role in expanding transportation in the Saginaw area.

• Anton Schmitz. Born in 1869, this individual was responsible for the Morley family establishing its business in Saginaw. He also endowed the Germania Society, which included a kindergarten, a German newspaper, music, athletics and social activities.

Patricia Turnbull Shek.   Patricia was a pivotal community supporter an activist who helped with building the Theodore Roethke Foundation, funding nursing scholarships, creating the Savoring Saginaw Cookbook, and was a small business owner and recipient of many community and statewide awards for her tireless endeavors.

The honorees will be recognized at a dinner ceremony on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at the Saginaw Club.  Reservations must be made by October 16, 2023 by sending a check for $40 to Irene Hensinger, 320 Ardussi, Saginaw, MI 48602.
