Transit of Mercury

Posted in: Instructional

The planet Mercury will transit in front of the Sun for the first time since 2016. Weather permitting, planetarium staff will set up safe solar viewing telescopes to watch the tiny disk of Mercury pass in front of the Sun. There won’t be another transit of Mercury until 2032, and the next one where Mercury passes this close to the center of the solar disk isn’t until 2187. Viewing is free and open to everyone. Delta College Planetarium, 100 Center Ave., Bay City. From 8 am to 1 pm. Phone 989-667-2260.
