In the Communist heyday, director of Bolshoi orchestra was fired for hiring Jewish musicians, now works there as a janitor. When he intercepts an invitation for the orchestra to perform in Paris, he substitutes the fired players of his old orchestra for the job instead of the invited Bolshoi.
