The Color Purple by Alice Walker - Varroa Mite Lecture

Posted in: Instructional

Varroa continues to be one of the biggest drivers of colony loss. It’s easy to think that your hives don't have Varroa, as 70-80% of the mites are hidden beneath wax cappings in the brood nest. Hidden out of sight, the Varroa feed on developing bees when they are at their most vulnerable. Through this lecture, Dr. Traynor will share detailed photos of Varroa, discuss how Varroa spread viruses and how your colony can pick up mites from the neighborhood. To help you stay on top of Varroa, Dr. Traynor will highlight simple methods of monitoring Varroa levels and how to control escalating infestations. Dow Gardens, 2203 Eastman, Midland. 6 to 7:30 PM. $10.00 per person. Phone 800-362-4874
