WinaSchnitzel Drop New EP & Announce July 18th Release Show

V”, the new EP from WinaSchnitzel is a compilation of songs recorded over the course of the last three years. The title is the Roman Numeral for five, as this is their fifth recorded release.

The band spent considerable time sitting on the material, debating whether to continue refining the songs or release them as they were.

Originally, the late Jack Neymeiyerwas slated to produce the project. After meeting with the band to discuss the EP, he tragically passed away just a few days later. The loss was a devastating shock, and after taking time to process it, the band chose to move forward by recording and producing the EP themselves at Papa Doc Studios.

The EP's four original songs were written by guitarist Conor Larkin, who brought the initial riffs and song structures to the group. Shannon Schnettler wrote all the lyrics and vocal melodies, giving the songs their distinct voice and personality. From there, the band collaborated to develop the arrangements and individual parts, creating a truly collective effort.

WinaSchnitzel began as the musical “brother and sister” partnership of Shannon and Steven Schnettler, but collaboration has always been central to the band's identity. Over the years the group has welcomed contributions from a variety of musicians. Their previous EP featured significant musical input from former guitarist David Clare, while Conor Larkin also played an important role in shaping that release. This new EP, however, is regarded by the band largely as Larkin's creative vision.

The fourth original track titled “Be Mindful” - is the newest composition on the EP and features longtime friend and frequent bandmate Josh Story on bass guitar. His performance adds another familiar musical voice to the project.

Other original tracks on the EP include “LifeLine,” “Taken by the Night,” and “My Own Way.”

The EP concludes with “Enjoy fhe Silence” a Depeche Mode classic that has been a staple of WinaSchnitzel's live performances for many years. The band felt its dark atmosphere complemented the original material and chose to record it with their own signature funky, danceable interpretation.

One of the primary motivations for finally releasing the EP is Larkin's upcoming departure from the band as he prepares to move away. The members felt it was important to close this chapter of WinaSchnitzel by celebrating everything they created together and sharing songs they are especially proud of.

The band describes Larkin as an exceptional musician, a gifted artist, and, above all, a valued friend. While they will miss his presence in WinaSchnitzel, they wish him every success in his future endeavors.

WinaSchnitzel will celebrate the release of the EP with a special show at Scotty's SandBar on Saturday, July 18. The performance will also mark Conor Larkin's final full show with the band, making it a particularly meaningful evening.

The EP will be available on all major streaming platforms and on cassette at the release show.
