Two weeks ago the Great Lakes Bay regional arts community suffered a tragic loss when Pit & Balcony Community Theatre's world was shaken by a fire in their costume shop.
After meeting with the Fire Marshal, insurance investigators, and adjusters, the theatre reported in a press release yesterday that the loss was catastrophic. Sadly, everything in their costume shop was lost.
"This wasn't just costumes. We also lost hats, shoes, jewelry, coats, sewing machines, steamers, notions, trims, and the countless tools and supplies that bring our productions to life; not to mention decades of memories and a happy place for so many,", continues the released statement. "Some items were destroyed by the fire, while others were left beyond recovery due to smoke and soot damage. We are heartbroken by this unexpected loss."
As Pit & Balcony prepare for their 95th Season, they are asking for your help.
Presenty they are raising funds to rebuild their costume collection and purchase the essential supplies needed to costume every production this season.
At this time, they are not accepting in-kind costume donations due to limited storage and space. The most meaningful way to support this effort is through a financial contribution.
Every gift—no matter the size—will help this important theatrical community resource clothe the stories, characters, and performers who will shine upon their stage this season as they begin rebuilding.
