DETROIT- It was a very good weekend for the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park winning today's game 5-2 over the White Sox.   It wasn't too long ago that the Chicago team was leading the Division by a wide margin.  They had their jets cooled down this weekend by the Tigers sweeping the series against 3 strong left handed pitchers.   The Sox threw their best and the Tigers responded by scoring 22 runs in the sweep.

Justin Verlander is starting to look like the Justin Verlander of old by now throwing six quality starts in a row.  He still has the tendency to give up the home run ball which he did twice today.   Jose Abreu and Todd Frazier both hit long shots off a Verlander fastball.   Justin would go 7 innings with 8 strikeouts along with 1 walk.   He now has raised his record back to 5-5 on the 1/3 point of the season.

The Tigers had a balanced hitting attack today with three players getting two hits each.  Ian Kinsler, Victor Martinez and Justin Upton contributed to the coming alive bats today against the strong left handed pitching.   The Tigers broke the game open in the 5th inning by scoring 4 runs to take a 5-1 lead only to see Frazier blast one out the next inning.

Detroit would hold onto the 5-2 win over the struggling White Sox and move to 28-28 on the season.   The Toronto Blue Jays now come to town for a quick 3 game series.  The Tigers need to continue to hold court and win each series at home.  The Tigers are then off on the road for a grueling 10 games in 10 days stretch.   Things are starting to straighten out for the Tigers in their quest to make the 2016 playoffs.
