The Bangor John Glenn girls basketball team moved a step closer to their goal of a MHSAA State Championship with a easy 59-27 win over the Freeland Falcons.  Freeland with a very young team was ranked #8 in the state in the Class B polls as the regular season ended.   The John Glenn girl's however have been very high all season long in Class B finishing the season as the #2 team.   Their regular season record of 19-1 and now five straight victories in the post season have them marching towards the State Championship.

The Bobcats who have never won a State Championship in Basketball are now 3 wins away from that goal.   The girls have been ranked in the USA top #25 rankings during the season reaching as high as the #16 team in the nation.  John Glenn boasting 3 All-State players in seniors Cassidy Boensch and Jenal Laporte along with junior Kalle Martinez have contributed to the great season to date.   Bangor was tested by Frankenmuth in the first game of the regional going to overtime to hang on for the victory.

Now with the Regional Championship under its belt the girls now head to Big Rapids for a game against  Manistee (21-3) in the MHSAA's quarterfinal match-up.     Jenal Laporte poured in 18 points including a half court shot at the buzzer to end the first half.   Cassidy Boensch added 16 points along with Kalle Martinez's 11 points.    Bangor Township is all fired up by this historic girls basketball team and watching to see how far it can go this season.    They are a fine tuned machine I believe that will be playing in the Breslin Center next weekend in the MHSAA's Finals.
