The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) Bay City Players Present The Wit & Humor of ‘The Bard’ in a Fresh 90 Minute Flash of Brilliance Bay City Players, Michigan’s oldest continuously operating theater, is presenting a show for those with a ‘love’ or ‘hate’ relationship to William Shakespeare. As the ‘Bard’ once wrote: ‘Lovers & Madmen have such seething brains; which apprehend more than cool reason ever comprehends.” And while the brilliance of Shakespeare’s writing is without question, many modern audiences sadly do not possess the temperament and patience to fully savor it. ‘The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) by Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield promises to be one of the funniest plays you’ll see anywhere during the 2009 Fall Theatre season. The production runs September 25-27 and October 1-4, 2009 at the theater, located at 1214 Columbus Avenue in Bay City. Performance times are 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sundays. Audiences should be made aware that mature content is included. The show is a parody of the plays written by William Shakespeare, with all of them being performed (in shortened form) during the hour-and-a-half show. It is cast with only three young actors – Marty Hofelich of Midland, David W. Milka II of Saginaw and Evan Werner of Bay City. The play was written by the Reduced Shakespeare Company, and first performed in 1987. It later played at the Criterion Theatre in London, where it ran for nine record-breaking years. It has become one of the world’s most popular shows, playing frequently in a variety of languages. Making her directorial debut is Caitlin Berry, a longtime veteran of area theater stages who grew up on Players’ stage. She will be assisted by Jerry Dennis, another seasoned actor and director. Tickets are $15 for adults and $13 for seniors (60+) and students and are available anytime online at www.baycityplayers.com. The Box Office, located at the theater, opens to the public on Monday, September 21, and is open Monday through Saturday, noon to 2 p.m., and Sunday, 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., during the run of the show. Students may purchase tickets for the Thursday, October 1 performance only for $5 each. Student Ids must be presented to the Box Office at the time of purchase. *****
