Casting Call for Local
Michigan Talent

The Mountain Country & Rock Music Festivals are staging a Battle of the Bands for local artists seeking to open for noted national acts this summer. An interactive site has been added to the main festival websites for bands seeking to make contact.

Both festivals are looking for local Michigan bands to open for the likes of Sawyer Brown, Leann Rimes, REO Speedwagon and Def Leppard.
The competition is set up to allow a large number of bands from the entire state to win spots through the festival's website.

By submitting MP3's to the festival website, fans and enthusiasts can then vote to determine spots for top five bands in country and rock.

The top five bands in each division are then given the opportunity to compete live at a Battle of the Bands Finals Competition in Grand Rapids and Detroit.

Three winners from each competition will get the opportunity to perform live at the festivals on the largest outdoor stage in Michigan. Other competitors will be performing at various side stages, tents and locations at the festival, with one band receiving a live sound recording with SoundCrafters and Big Bear Studios of Midland. Judges will be made up of representatives from radio stations and sponsors.
Bands can access the site and upload music through the main festival website at
www.mtcountryfests.com or www.mtrockfests.com.

Deadline for all bands material must be uploaded by no later than May 20th. Public voting begins May 21st.

If bands have questions, they are encouraged to phone Holly McClusky at the Mountain Rock & Country Festival, 1-800-515-1780.
