A Response to Jo Kraych
Editor, The Review: Mrs. Jo Kraych is terribly wrong in her assessment of the letter I wrote that was published in Letters to the Editors in The Saginaw News.
Let me clarify several critical points
for the record:
1) Yes, she is correct, my letter
was changed. However, it was done so with my consent and after a phone
conversation with a representative of the Saginaw News verifying
that I had indeed written the letter. The letter published was indeed
my specific words.
2) I don't attack people. I
attack absurdities, positions, and rhetoric. I still contend that
Mr. Kraych's comparison of Saddam Hussein and George Bush
is absurd; impeachment is ridiculous, and the ranting just that. I
respect Mr. Kraych's courage to run for public office and wish him well.
3) My criticism of Mr. Kraych's
letter was born out of disappointment, not a conspiracy. I have
NEVER had a conversation with anyone from the Saginaw News
directly or indirectly about Mr. Kraych. Having been privy to a number
of his talks and positions I found myself with better expectations from
him coming out of the 95th. Thus far that seems to be unrealistic.

4) The Editorial Board on which I served does not use or review letters to the editors as fodder to fire shots off. On the contrary, the review board is to formulate a cross section of opinions in order to create its own Editorial position and I found that to be true in my 3 1/2 months of service.
5) Identifying myself (with pride
by the way) as an African American Republican should not be
commensurate with an "outing". Much like espousing Socialist ideas
isn't necessarily "outing" Mr. Kraych.
6) Lastly, it is interesting in
our County the Saginaw News is accused of being left and liberal
until they criticize someone left and liberal.
