Blues Cruise Set For August 28th
By Scott Baker The 3rd Annual Blues Cruise for the Saginaw-Bay Area Blues Society sets sail on Sunday, August 28.
In the midst of their third year, the
Society has had extreme success with its past two cruises on the
Princess Wenonah in Bay City.
"I would say the Blues Cruise turnouts
have met great expectations," said President Rodney Shur. "We've
had good turnout, good music and good weather. We've had a good time."
This year marks the return of the musical
line-up from last year, including Billy and the Beertones from
the Tri-cities and Big Foot Bob & The Toe Tappers from
down-state, Michigan. The juke-blues duo Padraic James and Jay
Taylor are slated to perform between acts and breaks.
"It's definitely good to have them back," stated Shur. "We were able to get some high class talent for everybody's entertainment."
This year members of the Society will
have a chance to get a discounted ticket of $35, while
non-members can still board for a $40 ticket. The day of the
cruise, all tickets will be $50, so it's a good thing to get them
as early as possible."
"We've always looked at ways we can
benefit our members," said Shur. "We've put on shows in the past that by
coming to them you get your membership to the Society. We're happy to
give a $5 break to our members for the Cruise. We endeavor in the future
to give more value for our memberships."
Not only is the cruise for four hours,
but also the ticket includes a buffet style dinner on top of the
entertainment. A cash bar is also available.
"I think the fact that we have it on a
Sunday, which is not the typical blues-day, it makes for a leisurely
time on the water and gets done early enough allowing people time to get
home and not interfere with work the next day," added Shur.
Tickets are available anywhere by calling
the S.B.A.B.S. head Chairman Jim Zimmerman at (989) 797-3923. If

Computer Repair, (989) 892-0831.
