MVP award two consecutive years while playing for a different team each
year?

B. Julius Erving
C. Earl Monroe
D. Brian Wood
QUOTABLE QUOTES
Former Illinois football coach Bob Zuppke, "No athletic director
holds office longer than two unsuccessful football coaches."
*
Professional golfer Lee Trevino, "My wife doesn't care what I do when
I'm away as long as I don't have a good time."
*
Former broadcaster Howard Cosell, "Sports is the toy department of human
life."
IDLE THOUGHTS
I see where Bay City Western recently added 80,000 pounds of shredded
automobile tires into the grass on its football field. The Warriors became the
first school in the area to go to the 'crumb rubber' surface, similar to Ford
Field in Detroit. In fact, the Ford Motor Co. and Hagen Ford
of Bay
City donated
the ground-up tires. The material is excellent for drainage and the surface
won't produce as much mud as regular fields. It should also help reduce the
number of injuries.

My Dad commented to me the other day on why the United State Postal Service
is sponsoring cyclist Lance Armstrong. I understand Armstrong works for
the post office, but I question how they can use taxpayer's money to sponsor his
races? So when are stamps going up again?

Virtually Perfect Golf is a teaching devise developed by a Toronto
company that allows a golfer to actually imitate a perfect swing. What the
computer-generated model does is help 'muscle memory'. A golfer attaches a
battery pack to the waist and wears a pair of 3D glasses. In the glasses the
golfer steps into the computer-generated model, which is adjusted based upon the
golfer's size. The model will make the ideal golf swing and the golfer mimics
it. King Par in
Flint,
one of only four locations in the United State to offer the system, offers a
one-hour lesson for $89.

Bay County Golf
Course is a
very good golf course that is owned by Bay County. Rates remain low, it's
challenging and you can actually get a tee time on Saturdays. With the acreage
Saginaw County has, how come county officials haven't looked more closely into
starting a county course? How about an area nestled somewhere between
St. Charles
and Chesaning?

There's been quite a bit of talk lately on whether the Detroit Lions
should ditch quarterback Joey Harrington. I'm not a big Harrington fan
for the simple fact that if you need seven yards for a first down, he'll throw
it six yards. But the Lions will more-than-likely lose back-up Mike McMahon
to free agency and third-stringer Rick Meier's only job is to tote a
clipboard. Do you ditch Harrington and start from scratch? I think you give him
one more year. One more solid draft and a few free agent signings may solidify
some weak links on the squad (offensive line, defensive backfield). If
Harrington has a subpar season in 2005, make him the back-up. Then, William
Clay Ford can break open his piggy bank and bring in Southern Cal's Matt
Leinert.

Frankenmuth is stepping to the head of the class as far as high school
basketball teams in the area are concerned. The Eagles, coached by Tim
Crawford (an alum of 'Muth), have a dandy point guard named Brad Redford.
Redford is only a freshman but he is handling the point like a four-year senior.
His father is none other than Mike Redford, a news anchor at TV-5.
