The 'Local Scene'
Returns to the Review
By Chris Mohn
Well, I guess it's my turn to try and kick up some sand around
here! With the departure of Randy Chandler from the Review fold, editor &
publisher Bob Martin has asked me to take over reporting on the Local Music
Scene. And with the number of venues to gig continuing to dwindle (and me
not wanting to get a haircut!) I know first-hand how hard it can be to keep
a steady performance schedule going.
I think I'll have fun interviewing all the musicians & artists out there
deserving the much-needed coverage, and that means everyone.
I'd like to thank The Review for giving me this opportunity to voice some
of my opinions & views, and encourage all artists out there to send in your
CD's, dates of live performances, and even a basement rehearsal of bands on
their way up!
I love to 'talk shop' and I'll do just that with The Screamin' Casanovas,
winners of Best Rock Band at this year's Review Music Awards Ceremony in
the next edition.
Also, Butch Burden wants to invite everybody to Hollywood Nights on Sunday
evenings, where he and the 'Change' host Open Mic - so come out if you
wanna jam!
I've been playing in our area & Detroit for the last 12 years and am
currently forming a group with the Barr brothers (Tom & Tony) from
Meanstreets, Billy Erdman of Wet Cement fame, and Scotty Witcomb of
LazyBones, and am working on an original project with Marvalle Strong , my
old mate from Mixed Generation.
There's a lot happening and I am here to tell you about it, so once again -
send those CD's and tapes into Review Magazine, 318 S. Hamilton St.,
Saginaw, MI 48602.
