The Hip Hop Page
Gee Pierce - The Man Behind UBU

By Sensei

I'm back again to fill you in on the latest info in the hip-hop community
here in the Tri-Cities. With summer coming a lot of releases should be
hittin' the stores, so if you are a group coming out with an album let us
know so we can mention it. If you drop one off to the Review I will try to
cover it. The Bay Area mix tape is in preparation and I have had a big
response from the emcees and producers around who wish to be featured. If
you are interested, you had better hurry, because spots are filling rather
quickly. Now let's get down to business!

Gee Pierce

Gee Pierce is going to be one of the hottest up and coming producers next
year and you HEARD IT HERE FIRST. I want every reader to remember me saying
that, because a year from now I will be writing my "I told you so" article
and I don't want anybody to say "you didn't say that".

With the dirty south started to slow down, this year should be the time for
the Midwest to finally get its much overdue respect. At the center of this
is Gee Pierce and UBU production house. Gee's client list reads like a
who's who of Midwest Rap. Bootleg, Shoestring, Jake the Flake, Skambino
Mob, Top Authority, Illstreet, Mack the Jacka, The Fharmacy, and most
recently, Gee has been finishing the latest offering from MC Breed.

During the many projects that Gee has been doing, he has worked on his own
R&B project due out this year on Palace Records. Gee took time out from his
rigorous day to play some new stuff and discuss his plans.

Sensei: How would you define your production style?
Gee: My production style is just like the name UBU. Whatever you want to do
I try to do. I adjust like a chameleon and adapt to my surroundings. I will
suggest ideas but I try to allow the artist to be an artist and paint the
picture he or she sees.

Sensei: What are you working on right now?
Gee: I just finished Mack the Jacka and Illstreet and we are almost done
with the new Breed album called "MC Breed 2000".

Sensei: What's next?
Gee: Were going to start work on the Dilly Boyz album which is a group
consisting of MC Breed and the DFC. There is a new Dayton Family in the
works with Bootleg, Shoestring and Jake the Flake. After that, it will be
time to promote my solo album.

Sensei:  What should people expect from that?
Gee: It's like Hip-Hop soul. There are a lot of ballads and these are songs
that will last. The album is executive produced by Fab 5 Freddy and Royce
Corimer.

. Note from Sensei - You can listen to this album by visiting the website:
www.InTheMiddle-Ent.com.

Sensei: What does it take for an artist to work with you?
Gee: I am very selective about who I choose to work with. The artist I do
choose to work with must be obviously talented but also humble. We check
all egos at the door, and if you don't have a good attitude and strong work
ethic then don't even cross the threshold.

Well as I stated early Gee Pierce is going be hot and you heard it here
first. Still not convinced? JUST WAIT!
