Letters To The Editor
Dear Bob;
I wanted to drop you a few lines of gratitude for all the support
you have given The Boogie Monsters Blues Band. Your feature on us in the
Review and the time that you gave to us on stage at the 14th Annual Music
Awards Ceremony has helped us out tremendously and we appreciate it more
than words can say. Putting a quality band together takes a lot more than
just having talented musicians all marching to the beat of the same drum.
It also takes the support of spouses, friends, family, fans, and people
like yourself who are so supportive of the Arts.
I have been playing music for some twenty years now and have never seen
such an overwhelming support towards the music scene as in the Saginaw
area. I'm hoping that his band can keep the public as happy as they have
made us during the past year and a half.
We thank you for all you have done for us.
Sincerely,
Jim Beschoner

Dear Editor;
Human Relations Day in Saginaw is June 24 on Ojibway Island from 12
noon until 5 pm. This annual event, sponsored by the city's Human Relations
Commission, is a wonderful opportunity for people of all ages and corners
of our community to come together. We will celebrate our diversity in a
spirit of unity that identifies us as neighbors.
The Human Relations Commission was established by Ordinance in 1958 to end
all forms of discrimination in the City of Saginaw. Progress has been made
in the areas of employment, education, housing and the criminal justice
system. Of course, there still is a long way to go, because discrimination
can occur in so many ways: race, religion, age, sexual identity, ethnicity,
and with the handicapped. Sometimes we are not even aware that we are being
discriminatory in our words, actions and decisions. But, we can learn and
change.
We are inviting everyone to Ojibway Island for an enjoyable day of
entertainment, eating, and visiting to celebrate that 'We are Saginaw'.
Anyone interested in participating in the events, provide vendor sales or
services, or help behind the scenes, please call Sandy Noonan at 769-1318.
Thank you,
Rev. Dr. Mark J. Molldrem, Commissioner
Human Relations Commission
